How to Detect BrasDex Trojan in Android Apps
This Knowledge Base article describes how to use Appdome’s AI/ML in your CI/CD pipeline to continuously deliver plugins that Detect BrasDex Trojan in Android apps.
What is BrasDex Trojan?
BrasDex is an Android banking trojan that primarily targeted Brazilian banking apps initially, particularly exploiting the Pix payment system. It abuses Android’s Accessibility Services for keylogging and enables automated fraudulent transactions via its sophisticated Automated Transfer System (ATS) malware. This allows BrasDex to bypass multi-factor authentication (MFA) and execute unauthorized transfers from compromised mobile accounts. Initially relying on overlay attacks, BrasDex has evolved to use adaptive keylogging, increasing its automation and attack success rate. Defending against BrasDex is complex because it blends multiple attack techniques, including app repackaging, keylogging, overlay attacks, and ATS-based transaction hijacking. The trojan’s ability to evolve rapidly and evade detection makes it a persistent threat to mobile banking security. Preventing BrasDex is essential for securing financial transactions, protecting user credentials, and meeting compliance requirements such as PCI DSS, ensuring mobile banking apps remain secure against advanced fraud automation.
How does Appdome Detect BrasDex Trojan in Android Apps?
Appdome’s dynamic Detect BrasDex Trojan plugin for Android combines advanced protections against rooting, keylogging, overlay attacks, MitM attacks. It dynamically blocks BrasDex’s attempts to exploit Android’s Accessibility Services, stopping malicious input capture, and automated fraudulent transactions. Anti-tampering and anti-debugging protections prevent malware from modifying app code or injecting malicious payloads. Google Play Store Signature Validation blocks fake or repackaged apps used in malware campaigns. Prevent ATS Malware detects and stops automated transaction hijacking in real time. Combined, these protections ensure dynamic and continuous protection against BrasDex’s diverse attack vectors without requiring developers to write or change code. Mobile developers can leverage Appdome’s Threat-Events™ to collect detailed data and implement tailored in-app responses based on detected threats.

-
Follow the instructions below to use the Fusion Set ID inside any standard mobile DevOps or CI/CD toolkit like Bitrise, Jenkins, Travis, Team City, Circle CI or other system:
-
Refer to the Appdome API Reference Guide for API building instructions.
-
Look for sample APIs in Appdome’s GitHub Repository.
-
Create and name the Fusion Set (security template) that will contain the Detect BrasDex Trojan feature as shown below:Figure 1: Fusion Set that will contain the Detect BrasDex Trojan feature
-
-
Add the Detect BrasDex Trojan feature to your security template.
-
Navigate to Build > Anti ATO tab > Android Trojans section in the Appdome Console.
-
Toggle On Detect Bank Trojan Apps > Detect BrasDex Trojan.
Note: The checkmark feature Detect BrasDex Trojan is enabled by default, as shown below.Figure 4: Selecting Detect BrasDex Trojan
Note: The Appdome Platform displays the Mobile Operation Systems supported by each defense in real-time. For more details, see our OS Support Policy KB. -
