Appdome Support and EOL Policies for Mobile OSs and SDKs
This Knowledge Base article summarizes the Appdome Support and EOL Policies for Android and iOS operating systems and SDKs.
We hope you find it useful and enjoy using Appdome!
Purpose of the OS and SDK EOL Policy
Appdome is a no-code mobile app security and fraud detection platform designed to add security and fraud detection features to Android & iOS apps. Appdome-secured Android and iOS apps are Certified Secure™ and built to be compatible with multiple versions of Android and iOS to ensure our customers can reach the largest mobile audience and achieve maximum compatibility with end-user devices.
This policy is intended to guide Appdome customers in communicating support policies to their customers and mobile app end-users. This policy is also intended to provide Appdome customers with a reasonable amount of time to plan and implement mobile OS migration strategies as new mobile operating systems are released by the OS vendors (Google and Apple). For purposes of this policy, Appdome defines EOL, EOS, and EOC as follows:
- End-of-Life (EOL) is when Appdome no longer adds new features for the mobile OS version.
- End-of-Support (EOS) is when Appdome no longer provides support for the mobile OS version.
- End-of-Certification (EOC) is when Appdome no longer provides security certification for the mobile OS version.
During the period between EOL and EOS/EOC, Appdome will provide bug and security fixes (“Bug and Security Fixes”) only. Appdome’s Certified Secure™ security certification and Bug and Security Fixes are not available on Appdome-secured mobile apps running on OS versions older than (i.e., outside) the operating system versions listed below unless the customer purchases an extended support contract with Appdome.
Support and EOL Policies for Mobile Operating Systems
At Appdome, our goal is to innovate beyond and keep pace with OS releases, ensuring compatibility between Appdome’s advanced mobile app security and fraud detection features and the maximum range of OS versions provided by the OS vendor.
Apple and Google continually make updates to their offerings to take advantage of the newest capabilities in mobile devices, add new features, deliver bug fixes, and offer new ways to delight mobile end-users. Appdome Certified Secure™ mobile apps running on operating systems listed (i.e., inside the list) below will receive all updates and upgrades (i.e., code updates) made generally available to all customers or made available to customer-specific Appdome-built apps, in each case as applicable to the customer’s license.
Below are the supported Android and iOS operating systems for all Appdome mobile app security and fraud detection features, including Certified Secure™:
Appdome Mobile OS Support Policies
Android Support Policy:
- Current Version – Latest Major (X) and All Minors: Fully supported and recommended. This includes the latest major version and all of its minor updates, offering full functionality and security.
- Previous Version – 1st Previous Major (X-1) with Latest Minor (Y): Supported. This version receives updates and support for its latest minor version only.
- Older Version – 2nd Previous Major (X-2) with Latest Minor (Y): Supported with an upgrade recommended.
- Legacy Version – 3rd Previous Major (X-3) with Latest Minor (Y): End of Life (EOL) begins with the release of the latest major version, followed by 180 days of limited critical support. After this period, it transitions to End of Commitment (EOC) and End of Support (EOS), where no further support or updates will be provided.
iOS Support Policy:
- Current Version – Latest Major (X) and All Minors: Fully supported and recommended. This includes the latest major version and all of its minor updates, offering full functionality and security.
- Previous Version – 1st Previous Major (X-1) with Latest Minor (Y): Supported. This version receives updates and support for its latest minor version only.
- Older Version – 2nd Previous Major (X-2) with Latest Minor (Y) –End of Life (EOL) begins with the release of the latest major version, followed by 180 days of limited critical support. After this period, it transitions to End of Commitment (EOC) and End of Support (EOS), where no further support or updates will be provided.
Appdome will Certify Secure™ and validate all Appdome mobile app security and fraud detection features against all mobile operating systems listed within the above support policy.
Appdome-secured mobile apps that previously ran on OS versions that, by operation of this policy, become EOL or EOS/EOC are expected to continue to function properly on such EOL or EOS/EOC OS. Mobile app security and fraud detection features that are intended to be placed in use in new applications on OS versions older (i.e., outside) the EOL or EOS date, can be supported by Appdome only with an extended support contract. Without an extended support contract, any functional incompatibility may be resolved with a modification to the customer’s Fusion Set/ security model.
Support and EOL Policies for Mobile SDKs
SDK developers continually make updates to their offerings to take advantage of the latest hardware and operating system software available on Android and iOS devices. For Appdome to continue to advance its security offering at the same pace, Appdome adheres to the following EOL, EOS and EOC policies below:
SDK Support Policy:
- Latest Major SDK version (X) – Supported and recommended
- 1st Previous Major SDK versions (X-1) – EOL
- 2nd Previous Major SDK version (X-2) – EOS/EOC
